Vertex Link Corp. (www.vertexlink.co.jp) and Sigma Designs today announced a wireless high-definition (HD) multimedia player that it's calling MediaWiz HD. The HD version is the successor to theMediaWiz Plus device the companies launched in February 2004.
The device enables TV output of video and photos stored on a PC over a wireless network (802.11g). The box also works as a set-top box for low-end video-on-demand systems, or as a product for delivering movies and video-on-demand to hotels, the company said.
Corporate samples are being delivered this month, with commercial shipments planned for the end of August. Corporate systems will be sold through system integrators, dealers and distributors, while consumers will be able to buy the device through PC outlets and other mass retailers, the company added.
