Netgear this week announced its WGR101 Wireless Travel Router, a pocket-sized 802.11g wireless LAN router that gives users wireless access for road warriors and other mobile workers. The device is now available, and costs $99.99.
When plugged into a high-speed Internet connection such as those found in a hotel room or conference room, the WGR101 can provide 802.11g Internet access for others in the room. The WGR101 measures 0.7- by 2.3- by 3.4-inches and includes an internal antenna to prevent breakage during packing and travel.
Security features include Network Address Translation and Stateful Packet Inspection, VPN (IPSec and PPTP) passthrough, 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption, and wireless SSID suppression. The device can also be upgraded to support Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) security.
