Network World Fusion, 06/11/04

ZyXEL Communications this week launched an 802.11g wireless 4-port router and a USB 802.11g wireless adapter, aiming at the small office / home office and small- and midsize-business markets.

ZyAir-G-220.jpgThe ZyAIR G-2000 ($165, available now) includes a four-port 10/100 switch, network address translation, firewall features (including static content filtering and URL blocking) and an 802.11g access point. Firewall protection includes stateful packet inspection, denial of service and attack alerts. The G-2000 also includes support for Wi-Fi Protected Access, 802.1x user authentication and WEP key encryption, ZyXEL said.

The USB 2.0 ZyAIR G-220 (pictured, $98, expected street price of $79) acts both as a wireless adapter and as an access point, the company said. Users can create an access point with a host computer through the built-in software feature and bridge a wired and wireless connection. By plugging the G-220 into a computer with an Ethernet connection, other computers can then use the host computer's network connectivity (wirelessly through the G-220). The adapter also supports 64-, 128- and 256-bit WEP encryption, 802.1x authentication, and WPA.

For more details on the ZyXEL equipment, go to the G-2000 page or the ZyXEL online store.
