One of our favorite network camera companies, Axis Communications, announced a new network camera that includes Power over Ethernet (802.3af) functionality. The Axis 211 is aimed at high-performance surveillance applications, Axis said.
With Power over Ethernet, users can consolidate the power source to a central location, increase security and reduce installation costs, Axis said. The Axis 211 also includes a built-in Web server and supports Universal Plug and Play (UpnP) for an easier connection to a LAN or the Internet. The camera offers real-time images or live video at up to 30 frames per second in VGA resolution (640 by 480 pixels). Support for MPEG-4 will be available as a download in Q3 2004, the company added.
The Axis 211 is expected to cost $799, and will be available in July. For more details, go to the Axis Web site.
Back to Cool ToolsThe Axis 211 is a really great camera. The resolution is very good and it is easy to use and install for any skill level. I had a bit of concern about installation so i bought mine at http://www.apexsecuritysolutions.com and they offered me some answers to my questions.
