Network World Fusion, 06/02/04

Visualware today launched its MySpeed Server test tool, which can be added to any existing Web server to let visitors know how fast their connection to the Web site is.

The MySpeed tool lets visitors test bandwidth performance for upload and download data transfers, Visualware said. Results are provided in a comparison chart that shows a spectrum from a dial-up connections up to T-4 lines. The MySpeed tool also measures quality of service, round trip time and maximum pause, the company said.

The tool costs $249 for a single-domain, single-server license, and comes as a Java applet that can be incorporated into existing Web pages. It can be hosted on any standard Web application server, including Apache and Microsoft IIS. For an evaluation version, go to the Visualware Web site.
