If you really need some storage capacity for all of your photos, videos, music and other data, check this out. Iomega this week said it was shipping its HDD 160G-byte USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive, an external 7200 RPM hard drive that includes "touch-free" backup software. The drive costs $199.95 (suggested retail) and is available at the Iomega Web site and other retailers.

IOMEGA-160GB-drive.jpgThe drive measures 7.25 by 4.5 by 1.25 inches, and includes Iomega Automatic Backup software for real-time backup, the company said. Backups become automatic, as users only have to select the files and folders they want to protect, and the software does the rest. The system can do a backup when the file changes, allow for personalized schedules, supports multiple backup locations, can save multiple file revisions, and supports DVD, CD, hard drives, network drives and memory cards. When a backup media is unavailable, the software can cache the backup data. A full version of Symantec Norton Ghost is also bundled with the device.

The drive is compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and above, as well as Windows 98, 98SE, 2000, ME and XP systems. The Norton Ghost application is only compatible with Windows 98, 98SE, 2000, ME and XP.
