What's better than a mobile printer? How about a semi-rugged mobile printer?
That's what Fujitsu did this week, with the launch of its FTP-628WSL110, a mobile thermal printer that includes a Bluetooth interface, serial and infra-red inputs. The device weighs about 0.6 pounds, and runs on a 3.7-volt DC lithium ion battery or can connect via a power adapter.
The device can print bar codes, alphanumeric KANA, JIS KANJI and international characters, Fujitsu said. The printer uses 2-inch wide thermal receipt paper, ranging from 60 to 100 microns thick. For semi-rugged environments, the device is designed to survive a 1.5-meter drop, is water resistant (JIS C0920 Class 2 standards), and can operate in temperatures ranging from -5 degrees to 50 degrees Celsius. The printer is available now, and costs $480. For more details, go to the Fujitsu Components Web site.
