Chillin' in Atlanta

Network World Fusion, 03/22/04

We're here at the CTIA wireless show in Atlanta, where the world's cell phone makers trot out their new models for 2004 (U.S.-based models, at least).

During breaks in our hectic meeting schedule, we'll try to update this space with thoughts from this year's show. So far we can report that phone makers continue with their camera obsession, adding more features to make the camera image quality better.

I also spoke with NVIDIA yesterday, which plans additional mobile processors that aim to offload processing power to the chip, giving cell phones the capability to allow for 3 megapixel-style digital cameras. An NVIDIA spokeswoman said phones with those chips could be on the market by the end of this year. Impressive.

More from the show once I brave the 32-degree temperatures as I make my way to the Georgia Convention Center (hey, I thought this city was called "Hot-lanta").

If you're not down here at the show, you can check out the official show Web site from the comfort of your heated office here.
