Starbucks Coffee today launched its new Hear Music brand, and opened its new Hear Music Coffeehouse in Santa Monica, Calif. The new store lets users order Starbucks coffee as well as use the Hear Music CD burning service. The service lets users burn full-length albums or personalized compilations while they wait for their coffee. The company said it would launch the Hear Music service at 10 select Starbucks stores in Seattle later this spring.
The Hear Music Coffeehouse includes more than 70 HP Tablet PCs that let users listen to music (the "listening bar") as well as other editorial content (including musician interviews). The service will include content for more than 20,000 full-length albums, and hundreds of thousands of songs, Starbucks said. The coffeehouse will also be staffed with "music experts who can personally suggest new artists and guide customers to new genres, while burning a personalized CD," a statement said.
More information is available at the Hear Music Web site.
