It's digital camera week here at the Daily Dose, as manufacturers release their latest new offerings at the Photo Marketing Association Show in Las Vegas. Here's the latest roundup from Olympus:

  • The C-8080 Wide Zoom (pictured) is an 8-megapixel digital camera that includes Olympus' new TruePic Turbo Image Processor, for faster start-up time and shot-to-shot recycling time. The camera includes 5x optical zoom and 3x digital zoom, and will be available later this month for about $1,000 (street price).

  • The new C-770 Ultra Zoom and C-765 Ultra Zoom cameras are 4.0-megapixel, 10x optical zoom devices. Olympus says the latest models in the Ultra Zoom line are the smallest models it has produced yet. The C-770 can capture video with audio in MPEG-4 format. Both cameras will be available in April 2004, and will cost $599 (C-770) and $499 (C-765).

  • The redesigned D-540 is a point-and-shoot digital camera with a 3.2-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom and 3.3x digital zoom feature. The $199 (street price) camera will be available in March, Olympus says.

  • The new D-580 Zoom is a $299 point-and-shoot digital camera aimed at novice photographers. The 4.0-megapixel camera includes a 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom lens, and can produce images up to 11- by 14-inches. A built-in microphone lets users record QuickTime video with the camera for short movies that can be sent over the Internet. The camera will be available later this month, the company says.

  • The Stylus 410 Digital is an all-weather digital camera that includes a microphone and speaker for capturing audio in addition to images. The 4.0-megapixel camera includes a metal body to provide weather protection, and rubber gaskets to ensure that rain, snow or sleet won't get into the camera. The device includes a 3x optical zoom lens and 4x digital zoom, and can take images up to 11- by 14-inches. The Stylus 410 will be available later this month for $379 (street price).
