Network World Fusion, 01/23/04

Other World Computing this week launched the Mercury G4/450-533 MHz ZIF upgrade, with 1M bytes of L2 Cache for the Apple PowerMac G3 Beige, G3 Blue and White, and G4 (aka "Yikes") models. The company said the new upgrade replaces OWC's G4/450MHz, G4/500MHz and G4/533MHz models.

owc_merc_zif_front.jpgThe new upgrade costs $149.99, and includes a high temperature Motorola G4/450MHz processor guaranteed for safe operation of up to 533 MHz in all Power Mac G3 Beige Models, and G4/500MHz operation in the PowerMac G3 Blue & White and G4 "Yikes" PCI models, OWC said.

The Mercury ZIF is a plug-and-play upgrade, and is compatible with Apple OS 8.6 through 9.2.2, and all versions of OS X, including 10.3.x (aka "Panther"). The upgrade includes a two-year warranty. For details on the system, go to the OWC Web site.
