I met briefly with Griffin Technologies today, which is showing off its new USB-based ControlKey system, aimed at giving parents a way to control their children's Internet usage.
The USB key basically acts like an "ignition switch" for the user's PC. When the key is plugged in, Internet access is provided for the desktop. When the key is removed, net access is forbidden. File and folder-level access can also be granted with the key.
The device is available now on the ControlKey Web site, and will cost $59.99. The official launch of the product will occur in January, Griffin officials said.
