Zone Labs today announced the latest version of its ZoneAlarm security software, ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5. The latest version of the client-side security firewall includes integration with eBay and TRUSTe to help stop identity theft, the company said.
The new software adds an ID Lock and myVAULT features to help guard against the theft of personal identification information, intellectual property and other confidential data. For example, these features can help parents in ensuring that their children don’t share sensitive information, such as a home address or phone numbers, with strangers, Zone Labs said.
The eBay site verification feature gives eBay users the ability to circumvent information theft and fraud when a user may accidentally visit a spoofed eBay site. The feature in the ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5 verifies the authenticity of the eBay site, and warns users if a site is masquerading as eBay, the company said. In a similar manner, the software provides a visual pop-up confirmation when a Web site’s privacy statement has been certified by TRUSTe. The myVAUL:T feature gives a secure place to store sensitive personal and financial information, including passwords, PINs and credit-card numbers.
The software is expected to be available in mid-November at its Web site, Zone Labs said. Pricing was not yet announced, but the Zone Alarm Pro 4 software was selling for $49.95. A new version of the free ZoneAlarm 4.5, will also be available in the middle of the month.
