Epson America Inc. this week announced an all-purpose inkjet printer that can print text documents, borderless photos and prints that resist smudges, water and light. The Epson Stylus C84 replaces the C82 model as Epson’s flagship printer, the company said. The C84 costs $79 (after rebates) and is available now at retailers nationwide or online at Epson’s Web store.
The C84 prints at up to 22 pages per minute in black, and up to 12 ppm in color, Epson said. The printer supports a maximum of 5,760 by 1,440 dots per inch (dpi), and has a new engine aimed at printing quieter than before. In addition, the printer has a paper input tray that can hold up to 120 sheets of 20-pound paper, and can print up to 5,000 sheets per month. The C84 includes both USB and parallel port connectivity, and supports Macintosh and Windows PCs.
Two other models in the line include the addition of wireless LAN (802.11b) or 10/100 Ethernet connectivity. The Stylus C84N includes a 10/100 Ethernet print server, and the C84WN includes an 802.11b Wi-Fi print server. An optional adapter for Bluetooth ($129) is also available for the C84, Epson said.
Back to Cool ToolsI have a Stylus 800 printer. I just purchased a Computer with windowsXP and I can not down load my printer, it is not compatiable with windows XP.
Is there an upgrade I can get.
Will the C84 print custom size paper in conjunction with Mac X 3 ?

I lost the CD driver that came with the printer.
I Have an Epson 740, 740I printer and it is wonderful until I bought Macintosh system X and my printer doesn't work. Is there an u-grade for my Mac 740 Driver?
Posted by: W. D. Epperson on January 25, 2004 03:52 PMI was told I need to upgrade the driver for my epson printer by Visioneer (scanner). My Epson 880 is almost 3 years old. Where can i find this download?
To W.D. Epperson, you have the drivers for the 740 on one of your Mac install discs. If you have the retail Panther discs it is on disk three. Just do a custom install of the software selecting only the printer drivers install, you only need select the the 740, not all of the Epson drivers. I just retired my 740 today and it has worked since OS X beta. This may be a little late for you.

Posted by: Marie on February 17, 2004 04:35 AMDo I need to upgrade my Epson 600 stylus drivers to run Mac OS9? I have tried reinstalling the ones that came with the machine and it only does a partial installation and the quits, saying it was successfully installed, however it does not appear in the chooser and will not print. The printer does turn itself on at startup and seems ready but it can't make the connection.
Thanks,

Posted by: abid on March 29, 2004 05:57 PMI paid $500 for an Epson Stylus Photo EX. Recently I bought a new Imac with OS X, and now I can't print. The driver is not included among those in the system. I've downloaded and installed your upgrade (I think), but it keeps saying that driver is not installed! Is my $500 now down the drain?

I think i'm in the same boat with the rest of you. My Epson Stylus 640 wont work with XP either. I know this is an older printer, but looking at the rest of these comments it looks like Epson does not like XP at all!! I think I will be looking into another brand. Anyone have any suggestions?

Posted by: G. Daglish on October 22, 2004 12:39 PMI asked Epson to send a driver for my Epson 880. I thought that it would "turn up" on my active desktop. I have not found it; consequently, I am still waiting to begin printing. Also, can I procure a Bi-Directional cable from yo'all. I like the idea of computer and printer "talking. This was something to hear when my broken printer gave out. (Old) Thanks!
Posted by: Betty Barnell on October 28, 2004 12:36 PMI have an Epson 785EPX printer and a Mac OS X (it was OS 9 and my son upgraded for me). Recently, the window that comes up when I go to page setup or print is not the same one that used to come up. The one that comes up now does not give me the options of the tools (i.e. check ink levels or clean printer heads) or the option to choose automatic, PhotoEnhance or custom, etc. I emailed epson and they sent me step-by-step instructions to correct the problem and I followed the instructions (several times, infact) and nothing changed. Several days later the old window was there and the next time I tried to use it, it was back to the other one. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? The pictures I print with it like it is, are really bad, very green, with lines. I would appreciate any help.
