Olympus recently launched two new digital photo printers that include dye-sublimation technology, bringing photo lab-type quality to a home or small business user. The Olympus P-10 Digital Photo Printer ($199) and P-440 Digital Photo Printer ($499) will be available in October, Olympus said.
The P-10 can produce 4- by 6-inch or 3.5- by 5-inch photos without borders in 45 seconds or less, Olympus said. The printer also includes PictBridge technology, which lets a user connect a digital camera directly to the printer without the need of going through a PC.
The P-440 can produce five different print sizes, up to 8- by 10-inches in about 75 seconds for either glossy or matte finish print, Olympus said. Other sizes include postcard, photo album, Index and A5 wide. The P-440 can also print up to 50 copies of the same picture automatically. Users can also print directly from xD-Picture Cards, or a PCMCIA Type II adapter for SmartMedia, Memory Stick and Compact Flash media cards. The P-440 has a 1.8-inch color LCD for navigation and photo preview. The P-440 can also be connected to a TV via a video cable for previewing images before printing.
