Canon this week launched three new LCD projectors, the LV-7215 (pictured), LV-7210 and LV-5210 microportable LCD projectors. The claim to fame for these projectors are their ability to throw large images onto a screen or a wall from a short distance away.

CanonProjector-7215.jpgThe projectors are expected to be available in mid-September for $1,999 (LV-5210), $2,499 (LV-7210) and $3,499 (LV-7215), Canon said. All three projectors weigh 6.4 pounds each, and support optional networking accessories, including a Multi-Card Imager, a wired LAN card, wireless LAN card and Compact Flash Card. By connecting the projector to a wired network, IT managers can control the projector from a remote location, Canon said. The wireless LAN card lets users with wireless client devices to transmit their presentations to the projector without connecting cables. The Compact Flash Card adapter lets a user put their presentation on a card and project the presentation without the need for a computer.

The LV-7215 has 2,500 lumens of brightness, and native XGA resolution. Other features include progressive scan circuitry that converts a 480i/575i signal to progressive, and a DVI-I terminal that can provide for different inputs from devices such as DVD players, HDTV receivers, VCRs, camcorders or digital cameras, Canon said.

The LV-7210 has 2,000 lumens of brightness and native XGA resolution. This model also includes the progressive scan circuitry and the DVI-I terminal. The LV-5210 has 2,000 lumens and supports native SVGA resolution. This model includes a 1.6x zoom lens, which allows users to project a 100-foot image from 8.2-feet away, Canon said. The LV-5210 includes the progressive scan circuitry and DVI-I terminal.
