Fuji Photo Film USA Inc. today announced the FinePix S3000, a 3.2 megapixel digital camera that it is aiming at “everyday photographers.” The new camera replaces the FinePix 3800, and will be available in October for $399.99, Fuji said.
The S3000 has a 6x optical zoom lens (plus 3.2x digital zoom), and can take images up to 8- by 10-inches in size, the company added. Other features include the ability to record movies without sound (10 frames/sec. AVI format), and several “scene positioning” modes. Optional wide and telephoto lens adapters will fit on the camera for photographers who want to take photos at longer ranges.
The camera measures 3.9- by 3- by 2.7-inches, and weighs about 10 oz. (without batteries). The movie mode lets users capture 60 seconds of action at 320 by 240 pixel resolution, or 240 seconds at 160 by 120 pixel resolution. Bundled software includes the ImageMixer VCD 2 package, which lets users burn the movies onto a CD.
The S3000 includes a 16M-byte xD-Picture Card, four AA batteries, a USB cable and other software. Go to the Fuji Photo Web site for more details.
