Canon today announced a new 4 megapixel camera with advanced features “at an entry-level price.” The new PowerShot A80 digital camera will cost $499 and be available in October, Canon announced.

Canon-A80.jpgThe camera features a 3x optical zoom, variable angle LCD monitor, and weighs about 8.8 oz. The new A80 is the first PowerShot camera to support the PictBridge standard, which lets users print directly to a printer without connecting it via a computer.

Other features include a 11x combined zoom, a DIGIC image processor with iSAPS technology, automatic rotation of vertical-format shots, and larger dial and buttons for improved control. The camera has a Movie Mode that allows for 3-minute movies, and can also record voice memos. More details on the new camera are available at the Canon Web site.

When opening the LCD screen for viewing it is not I beleive designed to be used at 90 degrees so you can see what's been seen at right-angles, presuming it has no indent for this purpose would compromise another variable that will in some future specs. be avilable....
