Network World Fusion, 08/13/03

Many companies have come out with video-to-DVD hardware, but HP wants to make it easier for users. As part of its consumer product rollout this week, it announced the new DVD Movie Writer dc3000, a hardware and software platform that lets users convert VHS (and other media) videos onto a DVD.

HPDVDWriter-cd3000.bmpThe $399 device connects to a PC and lets you connect via RCA jack to a VCR (or other video output device). It can then convert the videos onto DVD+R/+RW disks. Software bundled includes video-editing software, as well as ArcSoft’s ShowBiz 2 and MuVee autoProducer.

In addition, the device works as a regular DVD or CD burner, or as a backup disk maker. Go to this site for more details on the product. The dc3000 is expected to be available in mid-September, HP said.
