Network World Fusion, 08/08/03

I/O Magic this week announced an internal CD-RW drive that also includes an embedded 7-in-1 media card reader. The drive will be available next month for an introductory price of $79.99, the company said.

The drive reads CD-R media at 52x-speeds, CD-RW at 32-x speeds, and regular CDs at up to 52x-speeds, I/O Magic said. The drive also includes automatic media selection for the above formats. The media card reader will read Compact Flash, IBM Microdrive, MultMedia Card (MMC), Secure Digital (SD), Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro and Smart Media cards. The drive supports Windows 98SE and higher PCs, and uses a USB connection on the user’s motherboard, the company said. Bundled software will also let users create their own MP3, audio, video or data CDs.
