AirSpeak this week announced it is shipping a new Flair tablet thin client device that now includes the Windows CE.NET operating system. Other new features on the tablet include Internet Explorer 5.5, Windows Media Player, file viewers for Office and PDF documents, the RDP 5.1 advanced terminal services client, and other networking and security improvements.
The Flair tablet includes dual PCMCIA expansion slots and integrated wireless LAN (802.11b) for network connectivity, as well as a high-resolution XGA display. The tablets can also be equipped with a “hi-brite” anti-reflective daylight screen that lets users operate the Flair tablet outdoors, the company says.
The tablet can also be configured to work with barcode scanners, magnetic card readers, storage media cards, Bluetooth adapters and wide-area network (GPRS and CDMA 1x) modems, Airspeak said. Several new models are also able to work with wireless keyboards, to allow for users to type on the displays easier without having to connect the tablet to a docking station or attach wired keyboards or peripherals.
