Olympus America this week announced two new digital voice recorders, the DM-20 Stereo Digital Voice Recorder / Music Player, and the DS-660 Digital Voice Recorder. The recorders will be available later this month, Olympus said.
The DS-660 ($299 retail, $249 street) includes up to 11 hours of voice recording capabilities, and comes with a docking station for file transfers to a PC or Macintosh. The device measures 4.25- by 1.63- by 0.8-inches and weighs 85 grams (including two AAA batteries). It has 32M bytes of memory and stores 660 minutes (11 hours) of recording. When connected to a computer, the device can act as an external USB microphone and speaker, Olympus said.
The DM-20 ($299 retail, $289 street) includes 128M bytes of memory, which can store about 45 hours of voice recording, or hold about two hours of MP3 music files. The recorder measures 4.31- by 1.56- by 0.6-inches and weighs about 3 oz., and includes a USB docking station for transfer of files from a PC or a Macintosh. The DM-20 also comes with a remote control / external microphone, to let users record audio without having to move the recorder, or, as Olympus says, “when keeping the recorder out of sight is more desirable.”
More information is available at the Olympus Web site.

I bought the DS-2000. Through the use of additional SmartMedia cards it gives unlimited recording time.
