PestPatrol Inc. this week launched a new online spyware detection service. The free Web-based scanner lets users find out whether their PC has any spyware, keyloggers and other "pests," the company said.
To try out the service (it does download some components to your system), click on this link.
The first time I ran the scanner, it found 73 "spyware" programs, but most of them were labeled as "spyware cookies." After deleting the "cookies" from my browser cache, I re-ran the scanner and it found four things labeled as "spyware."
The scanner doesn't eliminate the spyware, but the company does sell a program that does, PestPatrol software.
