Motion Computing today announced a new Tablet PC that includes Intel’s Centrino mobile technology. The company says the M1300 is the first tablet to the market that includes the Centrino technology. The M1300 is an update to the company’s M1200 tablet, and Motion Computing says the new model provides more processing power (up to 30% faster) and extends battery life by 10 to 15%.

MotionM1300-Docking-small.jpgThe M1300 includes all of the components of the Centrino technology: the ultra-low voltage Pentium processor at 900MHz, the Intel 855 chipset and the PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection for 802.11b (Wi-Fi) connectivity. The new model also has the same 3-lb. design and 12.1-inch display, Motion Computing said.

The device also includes 256M bytes of RAM (expandable up to 1G byte), hard drive space of either 20G-, 40G- or 60G-bytes, two USB 2.0 ports, a mobile USB keyboard with a touch pad, and a “digitizer” pen. The device runs on a six-cell lithium-ion battery (a three-cell version is optional), and uses the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition for its operating system. The device starts at $2,099. Accessories include the M-Series FlexDock (docking station) and a DVD/CD-RW combination drive, which lets the tablet “transform” into a desktop system.
