Epson this week announced two new XGA (1,024 by 768 resolution) projectors – the PowerLite 7800p and PowerLite 8300i. The two projectors are follow-ups to the 7700 and 8200 projectors, Epson said.

Epson-PL7800p.jpgThe PowerLite 8300i is Epson’s brightest projector, coming in at 5,200 lumens and a 1,200:1 contrast ratio. In addition, the projector can be set up to provide only 3,000 lumens. The projector weighs 24.7 lbs. The monitor will be available in late April for $9,999.

The PowerLite 7800p (pictured) has a 3,500 lumens brightness and a 700:1 contrast ratio. It also has a setting that can provide for a lower, 2,500 lumens brightness. The projector weighs 12.1 lbs. Epson says the monitor will be available in late April for $4,899.

Both projectors include Epson’s EasyManagement feature, which lets IT people monitor, maintain and control the projector from a remote location through Epson’s utility programs or a Web browser. The projectors can connect to an Ethernet network, and functions such as checking power status, lamp hours and powering the projector on or off can be handled via the network. The projectors can also e-mail alerts when the temperature, fan or lamp are not working correctly. Both projectors have several inputs, including D-sub15, BNC, DVI, S-Video, video and monitor out.
