SanDisk today said it is shipping a 1G byte Secure Digital (SD) flash memory card, which it jointly developed with Sharp Corp. of Japan. The company said it was able to double the card's capacity without changing the size of the card. The card will have a suggested retail price of $499.99, SanDisk said.
The card will be able to store more than 30 hours of music files, about 1,000 high-resolution images or about five hours of MPEG-4 compressed video. The card measures 2.1mm thick, and is about the size of a postage stamp, SanDisk said.
