Network World Fusion, 09/03/03

EZQuest announced today that its external Boa Slim DVD-RW drive for Macintosh and PCs is now available. The drive, which weighs under a pound, measures 6- by 5.5- by 0.75-inches. The device, which includes both FireWire and USB 2.0 ports, costs $359. A USB-only version is available for $339, the company said.

EZQuestSlimDvdRW.jpgThe Boa Slim drive operates at 2x-speed for DVD-R, 2x-speed for DVD-RW, 8x-speed for DVD-ROM, 16x-speed for CD-R, 8x-speed for CD-RW and 24x-speed for CD-ROM. Macintosh software includes Pixela IMX for encoding iMovies to MPEG-2 format and to burn DVDs, and Charismac for burning CDs and DVDs. PC software includes Sonic MyDVD Video & CD Burning Suite (for authoring DVDs and CDs). Also included for both systems is Retrospect Express (automatic backup software).
