Addonics this week announced a new series of DVD DigiCopiers that aim to end the confusion surrounding which recordable format is compatible with which. The new DigiCopiers include a 4x-speed DVD+/-R/RW duplicator, an external DVD+/-R/RW burner for PCs and networks, and support for USB 2.0, FireWire, CardBus or Serial ATA-based systems, Addonics said.
The system supports reading and writing capabilities of the DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, double-sided DVD, CD-R and CD-RW formats, the company said. In addition, users do not need a PC to create a duplicate disk. To copy, users just need to place a master disk in one drive, load a blank disk in the destination drive and wait a few minutes for the copying. The device is aimed at companies that need to duplicate large amounts of training material, or for data archiving purposes. The company says on average it takes 12 minutes for a CD-R to duplicate, and up to 40 minutes for DVD-R or DVD+R disks.
The base unit costs $599; options for interfaces then cost an additional $55 to $75, Addonics said. For example, the USB 2.0 version will sell for $659. Go to the Addonics Web site for more details.
