Network World Fusion, 01/23/03

NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America this week launched a new 20.1-inch UXGA LCD monitor with resolutions up to 1600 by 1200 pixels. The monitor has the ability to be remotely controlled over a network by IT administrators, or directly with a mouse and keyboard by end users.

NEC-LCD2080ux.jpgThe LCD2080UX uses the company's NaViSet software, based on Display Data Channel/Command Interface (DDC/CI) protocol, to let users change the monitor's setting via mouse or keyboard. IT managers can remotely control and track monitor settings using the DDC/CI function through a LAN or signal cable, NEC-Mitsubishi said. Information from the monitor, including its serial number, model name and manufacturing date, can be sent to a central location with NEC-Mitsubishi's asset management software.

The monitor also includes NEC-Mitsubishi's proprietary CableComp long cable technology, which lets users control the monitor from up to 326 feet (100 meters) away. The monitor has a rapid response time of 25 msec, and has a 16mm bezel on all sides. It includes NEC's XtraView+ technology, which lets multiple users see the screen from 176-degrees horizontally and vertically, 88 degrees from the center of the monitor.

The monitor costs $1,599.99 and will be available at the end of this month, the company said. Go to the NEC-Mitsubishi Web site for more information.
