AXS-One, a records compliance management company, last week announced new software that lets admins migrate data between Lotus Note/Domino and Microsoft Exchange environments.
The Dynamic Data Migrator, part of the AXS-One Compliance Platform, is aimed at enterprise organizations that have large legacy Notes/Domino installations that they want to migrate to Microsoft Exchange. The software also allows admins to migrate e-mails from Microsoft Exchange to either Lotus Notes or Domino.
Normally, migration between e-mail platforms involves manual data conversion. With Dynamic Data Migrator, original records remain unchanged and a retained for full fidelity and auditability. If a message or messages are required in the new messaging environment – say to reply to an e-mail – the message(s) is converted to Exchange or Notes formats. Any attachments, links to applications, encryption and Web links are preserved.
After messages are archived using AXS-Link for Lotus Notes or AXS-Link for Microsoft Exchange, users can access them directly from their mailbox or through a Web-based portal.
Once server migration is complete, messages archived from the old server are stored and managed in the same archive repository as messages from the current one. Users can search and retrieve their archived Notes and Exchange messages together via federated search from the same user interface.
The AXS-One Dynamic Data Migrator is expected to be available for organizations migrating from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange in third quarter of 2008.
