Warp Solutions last week upgraded its Warp 2063e edge appliance to enable enterprise networks to ramp up the performance and capacity of applications traversing their nets.

The Warp 2063e is an edge appliance designed to maintain high performance and availability while also distributing content. It sits on a network edge to offload high-volume traffic and serve end-user requests from the closest node.

The appliance can be used to address bottlenecks in Web-based infrastructures, the company says. It provides a non-intrusive way - meaning it is independent of the technology installed within an organization's origin site - to reduce latency. The appliance can be added to Internet infrastructures without requiring any changes, software, or plug-ins. The fault-tolerant appliance comes in a 2U rack-mountable enclosure.

Version 3.1 includes partial page and object caching support, cache rule templates that support custom URLs, and improved compression options. Other new features of the device include more flexible content-rewrite schemes, additional per-host configurable parameters, enhanced rule distribution and improved licensing to include server/node mode.

Available today, Version 3.1 starts from $10,000, depending on configuration.
