EpicRealm last month announced that its eXT technology would be included in Sun's Linux offerings.

The agreement would allow partners in the Sun iForce program to offer Sun Linux products integrated with epicRealm eXT software, a signaling technology that manages the results from dynamic content requests and stores the information. By off-loading this information from a server and storing it, your server and the epicRealm appliance share the responsibility of answering user requests.

The eXT technology, coupled with Sun's Linux servers, eliminates redundant processing of requests for the same information. The appliance serves data for repetitive requests, and frees the Sun server to deliver data for new requests. The hardware and software also ensures that data stored in distributed epicRealm appliances is consistent with data stored in the central database or application.

Some features include:

* Hierarchical, distributed caching to provide customers with an integrated enterprise content delivery network.

* Real-time content invalidation to deliver networkwide cache synchronization with data housed on core infrastructure servers.

* Cache clustering to reliably provide information despite hardware problems or other outages.
