In brief: Lucid8 releases GOexchange 3.1

Network World , 02/21/2005

Lucid8 last week released Version 3.1 of its GOexchange management platform, which includes new scanning capabilities, configuration features, scheduling controls and an improved interface. GOexchange is a management tool that proactively removes errors and inconsistencies from Microsoft Exchange databases so the mail server operates correctly and avoids unplanned downtime.

The software supports Exchange 5.5, 2000 and 2003. The server-based pricing for GOexchange 3.1 starts at $750.

Network and application performance management vendor NetScout last week announced plans to acquire anomaly detection vendor Quantiva for about $9 million.

NetScout, best known for its nGenius WAN probes and performance management software, will incorporate Quantiva's real-time performance metrics and anomaly detection software into its products in the next year or so. With just six staffers at Quantiva - five of which are engineers - NetScout says it will absorb the team to integrate the products. NetScout expects to release new integrated products in the second half of 2006. The acquisition, NetScout's first in about five years, is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close early in NetScout's first quarter of fiscal 2006.

Speedera last week debuted its latest service offering, FlexComputing, which the company says it uses its Content Delivery Network (CDN) to host frequently used applications. Much like its Web content and streaming services, FlexComputing deploys customers' applications on Speedera's network. Speedera network operations centers monitor the FlexComputing services 24/7 to ensure the delivery of customer applications.

The exact pricing for the service is yet to be determined and depends on customer implementations, but Speedera requires a minimum of $1,000 per month for its services.
