SilverStream Monday released a new Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) directory for free to developers to bolster the use of Web services.
UDDI is an "online yellow pages" for businesses, meaning businesses would be able to provide their information about products and services online, as well as locate customers and partners. UDDI is one of the key standards in Web services, which make it possible to build applications that pull together information from multiple sources either internally or externally over the Internet.
The Billerica, Mass., company is offering its eXtend JEDDI (Java Enterprise Description, Discovery and Integration) for free to developers to encourage them to use UDDI for publishing, managing and sharing Web services publicly and internally.
The eXtend JEDDI would allow companies to determine how many businesses, services and service type definitions could be published per user; the ability to trace incoming and outgoing messages; and an error log to track performance. It is currently available in beta form at software.silverstream.com.
