Zeus Technology this week will release a new version of its Web server, the first major release by the company in 3 years.
The new version, called Zeus Web Server 4.0, offers several enhancements aimed at increasing usability and performance for Zeus customers, which include eBay, UUNET, Cable & Wireless and Hewlett-Packard. It should also help Zeus better compete with rivals Apache and iPlanet.
Zeus Web Server 4.0 now includes monitoring features that allow businesses to recognize who is communicating with their site, as well as to track concurrent users, traffic volume and how resources are being used. Its user interface has been revamped, allowing businesses to modify changes at one server, and have those changes propagated automatically throughout the system.
Web Server 4.0 also features localized capability in languages including Japanese, Korean and German.
The server runs on Unix and Linux operating systems, and is priced at $1,699 per CPU, without support and maintenance.
