Former Netscape executive Marc Andreessen's entrepreneurial venture, Loudcloud, on Wednesday added an extensive management console to its existing managed infrastructure service.
Although Loudcloud is already providing high-end managed infrastructure outsourcing for various types of Internet companies, the 7-month-old company decided to throw in an all-in-one, browser-based "dashboard" of monitoring and management features. Dubbed myLoudcloud, the portal provides everything from Web analysis tools (compliments of WebTrends), to hardware and software monitoring and bandwidth provisioning.

"We're trying to bring dot-com companies to market faster," says Scott Dunlap, vice president of product management at the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Loudcloud. "Typically, you're going to have six or seven of these applications running separately in-house. This gives you one primary interface into the service."
Because Loudcloud does much of the systems management for its customers itself, some customers like to have a level of control internally. As a result, Loudcloud will be offering the capability to request additional bandwidth or capacity via the Web site. Through a technology called Opsware, the company can scale its systems dynamically, depending on demand, and get billed accordingly.
Loudcloud has partnered with various data-center moguls, such as Exodus and GlobalCenter, to offer its hosting services. The company has just completed its first round of funding at $68 million.
