Network World has learned that Denny Matteucci, CEO at Cable & Wireless USA is stepping down effective next month.

A memo was sent out to C&W employees late last month stating that Matteucci, who joined C&W in December, is leaving.

CEO of Global Operations at C&W Mike McTighe, who has only been with the company for two months, says in the memo that Matteucci "was brought into the company last year with a specific set of objectives and having achieved those objectives he will now resume his much-deserved retirement."

C&W says that its found a candidate to replace Matteucci. C&W will not announce who this person is until September because of contractual issues with the candidate's current employer.
