HP creates 'Net business unit

Hewlett-Packard has created an Internet Business Unit (IBU) that will market Internet software, solutions, appliances and services.

IBU will drive HP's electronic services strategy, HP today said in a press statement. Based in Cupertino, Calif., it will consist of five divisions brought together from existing HP businesses.

The E-Services Division will provide electronic business solutions software. The Internet Security Division, will provide software security products. The VeriFone Division will develop Internet software and appliances to enable secure financial transactions. The E-Commerce division will develop e-commerce software, and the E-Business Solutions Division will work on business-to-business e-commerce solutions.

Joe Beyers will head the new unit.
