White Pine Software today rolled out a new version of its desktop client that fully supports the industry conferencing standard.
CU-SeeMe Pro adheres to the H.323 standard for multimedia communication over an IP network. With the new version, CU-SeeMe users are no longer limited to connecting with each other. Users can now conduct conferences with users of other H.323-compliant clients such as Microsoft NetMeeting and IntelPro Share. CU-SeeMe Pro works with NetMeeting for data collaboration.
White Pine also improved the software's ability to display video windows with sharper pictures and standard video window sizing. The company's proprietary protocols have been enhanced to automatically detect network connection speeds and adjust the software accordingly, company officials said. White Pine halved CU-SeeMe's code base to 6M bytes, eliminating a number of superfluous features.
CU-SeeMe Pro for Windows 95, 98 and NT is due out at the end of this month. Pricing starts at $69.
