Toshiba this week introduced a new wireless server for small and midsized businesses, saying it offers full network capabilities with a reduced need for IT support.

The Magnia SG30 Wireless Mobility Server, introduced Wednesday, offers 802.11b wireless networking, allowing users to share files, access the Internet and configure a firewall and a VPN. It also offers content filtering, back-up capabilities, e-mail services and remote administration, according to Toshiba.

But the product's main selling point is it wireless features. The server comes with three PC Card slots that can house wireless LAN PC Cards, a built-in wireless access point and support for the IEEE 802.11b wireless standard, Toshiba said.

The server offers up to 160G bytes of storage capacity and 256M bytes of memory, and comes with a 1.2 GHz Celeron processor from Intel. Aimed at smaller companies and remote offices, the Magnia SG30 is roughly the size of a Toshiba laptop and priced starting at $1499, the company said.
