How We Did It

We connected each wireless router to our four-client network (a Dell desktop PC with a Pentium III processor running Windows 98 Second Edition; a Gateway desktop with a 450-MHz Pentium III processor running Windows 98 Second Edition; one Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 2000; and a Compaq Armada E500 laptop with Windows 95). The two laptops were used only to test the wireless networking abilities of the routers.

The routers were connected to a Motorola Surfboard cable modem that was provided to us by our cable company. The cable modem connected to the WAN port of each of the wireless routers. We then connected each of our desktop PCs to one of the four remaining ports.

After getting the Internet connection up and running, we attempted to get connected to the Network World VPN, using CheckPoint's SecuRemote client software. We attempted to connect via IPSec passthrough.
