Network Coding used for content distribution
Microsoft tested network coding for a content distribution system, used for a peer-to-peer network that distributed Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Beta-2. The company named it Microsoft Secure Content Distribution. Beyond peer-to-peer content distribution, Microsoft thinks MSCD could be good for live streaming and video on demand, and peer-to-peer collaboration such as group and folder sharing.
